David Friedman learned from his boss how to make a splash.
Friedman, designated by President-elect Donald Trump to be U.S. Ambassador to Israel, was honored with lighting the largest menorah in his hometown.
A large crowd gathered at Cedarhurst Park for the Menorah lighting ceremony organized by Chabad of the Five Towns in Long Island, where Friedman lives.
Chabad’s Rabbi Zalman Wolowik and participants were in high spirits when Friedman arrived on Sunday night for the week-long festivities.
Friedman, an attorney with the Trump Organization, happily joined the chassidic dancing which he had similarly done not long ago at the gala banquet of the International Kinus Hashluchim conference in New York.
Hot latkes, donuts and gifts were offered to participants and especially the children. But the cherry on the top was when Friedman went up in a cherry-picker to light the Menorah.
After reciting the traditional blessings and lighting 2 candles, Friedman began dropping gold chocolate coins down on the crowd. Kids hurried to collect them as the adults cheered on.
Trump, known for his fondness for gold and for making a splash, would certainly approve.
