It was years ago that R’ Mendel Shemtov, Crown Heights activist and donor, came up with the idea of the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s talks being handy for people on the go.
His idea was of a pocket edition of the Toras Menachem series – Sichos and Maamarim given over by the Rebbe throughout the years at Farbrengens and other gatherings in 770 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, NY.
“Reb Mendel had been pursuing this tirelessly,” says Rabbi Chaim Shaul Brook, Director of Vaad Hanachos B’Lahak, an institute of Chassidic publications.
Shemtov’s dream materialized this past month, when his son Rabbi Yossie Shemtov, Chabad Shliach and spiritual director of Young Israel of Tucson, AZ, married off his daughter.
Looking for fulfill his late father’s desire, Rabbi Shemtov donated the printing of the new pocket size Toras Menachem volume one and handed them out to the 530 guests at the wedding.
Mr. Yossi Laine of the Print House in Crown Heights joined in donating the first edition.
Toras Menachem, volume one, is sold for $10 at Kehot and Chabad bookstores.
