At around 1:00 AM on Sunday, the Menorah proudly displayed in front of Chabad Lubavitch of Utah, 1760 South 1100 East in Salt Lake City, was vandalized by some passing thugs.
“I find it deplorable that acts like this take place specifically during a Holiday that celebrates Religious Freedom in our Country,” says Rabbi Benny Zippel, Executive Director of Chabad Lubavitch of Utah.
“In the spirit of Chabad philosophy we are taught to never waiver in face of adversity and bigotry; on the contrary, in light of what has transpired we will celebrate the kindling of the Lights of Chanukah with even greater spirit and fervor,” he said.
Rabbi Zippel invited locals to attend Sunday’s Chanukah On Ice, at the Gallivan Center, 239 South Main Street in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The event will provide two hours of free ice skating to all members of Utah’s Jewish Community (3-5pm) with live Jewish Music by Desert Wind. The event will culminate in a celebratory, joyous Menorah Lighting Ceremony, lighting Utah’s Largest Menorah, 5-6 pm indoors at the Gallivan Center in downtown Salt Lake City.

its hashems way of bringing more neshomos closer
They couldn’t get in the way of chabad lighting it up for the finfteh lichtel, this way you can still light tonight before getting it repaired/replaced.
G-d should teach these thugs a lesson.

I hope your Chanukah programs are twice as successful and twice as joyous as usual after this negative event. Wishing you much hatzlacha.
