When most people have an ‘off day’ at work, it can be a set back, but is mostly fixable. For the rabbanim of klal yisroel, however, the stakes are so much higher. In their hands is the literal survival of families who come to them in situations that are a matter of life and death.
An israeli baby boy was born recently with only half of a jaw. He is unable to eat and spends his days and nights in severe pain. Doctors told his mother if she does not get help for him immediately, he will die. His mother is just a regular young woman who barely manages to pay her own monthly bills. Hysterical, frantic, she calls everyone she knows, but no one can help. In an act of desperation, she goes to a Gadol, pleading her way to the front of the line. But the Gadol cannot help her – for there are so many lives that will be lost if they do not get help this week, and there is only so much the Rav can help.
Stories like these happen every day – and so Rav Dovid Cohen & Rav Boruch Mordechai Ezrachi met to discuss several pikuach nefesh cases. The 36 families involved in the cases need immediately or lives will be lost.
They have turned to the public, with an extraordinary bracha for all those who join them:
