Friends and family recently joined with the Minkowitz and Chen families in celebrating the tender and precious life of Nava Ruth Chen, who passed away at the age of 2.
The evening which took place last Thursday at the Landau residence in Jerusalem marked what would have been her birthday. It was the third memorial gathering held around the world since her passing on the first night of Chanuka this past year.
The crowd was joined by some of the staff of Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital and the Zichron Menachem organization that took care of Navi with love and devotion.
Although it was an intense evening, it was held with grace and honor. Speakers included her grandfather, Rabbi Shmaryahu Chen of the Retorno Center in Israel, Rabbi Shalom Ber Lipskar of The Shul in Bal Harbour, FL, hostess Mrs. Caroline Landau, grandmother Mrs. Ilda Minkowitz of Milan and mother Mrs. Hadassah Chen.
A touching video was shown of the life of little Navi, with a message from singer Yaakov Shwekey who became close to the family during the course of Navi’s illness.
His song “Yesimcha,” which was Navi’s favorite song, was the soundtrack of the video, and Navi’s sister Elkah‘s voice was recorded separately and added to original soundtrack with his blessing and appreciation.
“In her short life Nava Ruth has been able though to touch a lot of hearts and souls of people who have been inspired and have pledged to help the Foundation that carries her name that will help sick children and their families,” the family said.

This video, showed me how special Nava is! So brave, always smiling! But I can’t help but think this is unfair, and Hashem should take away all evil and suffering from this world, especially from young children! Moshiach now!
