This answers my question as well as i was upset i was raised in a non religious home by my mother which i resented as i had to fight to become frum

I think by sharing this story, it has lifted many burdens from people reading. Those of us who have even minor issues with parents can relate because the Rebbe is so clear with his kind answer.

I can’t see how the Rebbe’s answer applies to a child of abusive and/or neglectful parents, although I’m glad it helped these women

Your parents’ aveiros are not your business. Even a mamzer, who you would think should curse his parents for making him what he is, is obligated in kibud av va’em.
