Lubavitchers worldwide were united Tuesday in a single mission: Purchasing books.
This is due to a custom that began in 1987, following the Seforim victory, when the U.S. Federal Court ruled that the Rebbe’s priceless library belonged to the Chabad Lubavitch movement and not an individual.
The Rebbe has urged that Hei Teves be marked with time devoted to study of Torah as well as the acquisition of new seforim, thus sending Chabad followers to Judaica and book stores.
Kehot Publication Society, the Chabad publishing house, has been offering their biggest sale of the year with up to 50% off on Kehot and Merkos titles.
Another major sale was being offered by Hamafitz Judaica on Kingston Avenue corner Carroll Street in Crown Heights.
Owner Mendel Vogel told COLlive.com that there has been an overwhelming response to the sales, with residents visiting the store in person as well as many calling in their orders.
Here are some of the bestsellers at Hamafitz this week:
Didan Notzach
Kitzur Sefer Hachinuch
Darchei Hachassidus
Shmiras Hatahara
