Shluchim Rabbi Yossi and Rivky Shuchat spearheaded a group of 100 people who helped prepare Chabad’s input in City2Surf, the largest timed running race in the world.
The popular road running event held annually in Sydney, Australia, covering a 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) course, attracts more than 80,000 entrants.
Shuchats’ Jewish Education Matters – Hebrew school baked thousands of cookies at Our Big Kitchen (OBK) under the directorship of Rabbi Dovid and Laya Slavin.
Runners were invited to stop by, take a cookie and make a blessing. 3000 cups of water were given out free as well.
Some 4000 runners came by Chabad – many of them men who agreed to put on Tefillin and say a prayer with the help of bochurim Chida Levitansky and Shmueli Posner.
“It was a real Kiddush Hashem with hundreds shouting out words of thanks and praise for the Jewish booth offering free refreshments to the participants on the 14KM run,” said Rabbi Shuchat.
