CHYE, in conjunction with the Crown Heights tech community, is set to host a tech informational and networking event, geared toward both advanced and beginner tech-industry workers. The event will take place on March 1st at ULY Crown St, beginning at 7:30pm.
“Tech is a very viable career path for people in our community,” says Israel Bryski, event coordinator. “The path to becoming a programmer can be relatively short—it’s an industry that really values skills over qualifications.”
Bryski will open the event with Levi Gross, Security Engineer at Squarespace, with a keynote address titled “Don’t Get Hacked Like the DNC”. Bryski will explore the human side—how break ins happen online, how hackers convince people to disclose their private information, and some tips for personal and business security—and Gross will discuss the technical aspects of cyber security.
The keynote address will be followed by the signature CHYE roundtable workshops, with nine experts in their fields addressing different areas of the tech industry.
“This is the perfect opportunity for people in the tech community to connect with peers, as well as for anyone considering a career in the tech world,” says Bryski, who will be giving resume, job search, and interview advice at the event. “The tech world is fast paced and is constantly evolving. If you enjoy problem solving in an ever-challenging environment, tech can be a very rewarding and lucrative option.”
This event is an initiative of CHYE, headed by Rabbi Yehoshua Werde. “We want to help people in the community realize a very up and coming potential career path in the world of tech,” Werde says.
