The new school year just opened and the teachers are back at their desks ready to learn.
Teachers from Crown Heights Jewish boys schools will be participating in a Teachers Training Program that will have them interning in a local classroom for 2 hours a day.
The Menachem Education Foundation (MEF) is offering the program to educators dealing with children who are not given the attention they deserve and need.
“Working with Crown Heights schools is our way to make a difference in our community,” said Rabbi Zalman Shneur, Executive Director of the foundation founded in 2008 and which has trained over 60 graduates from around the country.
“We piloted in one school, and it was extremely successful,” he told COLlive.com. “For that reason we chose to revamp our entire training program to include this important component.”
The program, co-directed by Rabbi Mendy Yusewitz and Rabbi Levi Eisenberg, is open to limited applicants which will also be mentored by JNTP – The Jewish New Teachers Project.
Applicants need to have least a few months of teaching experience and posses a strong work ethic and a desire to progress in the world of chinuch.
