A collection of 360 Tanya books printed around the world is up for bidding on the online auction and shopping website eBay.com.
Tanya is the fundamental text of Chabad Chassidic philosophy, written by the movement’s founder, Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi in the 18th century.
Centuries later the Lubavitcher Rebbe encouraged his Chassidim and followers to print editions of the Tanya in every location possible to elevate the location.
The Tanyas on sale were collected for over 20 years and most are in good condition, wrote the seller ‘glass_with_class’ of Pompano Beach, Florida.
According to the auction page, most of these Tanyas were printed between the years 1960 to 1985 and “cannot be found anywhere else.”
Among the editions for sale (partial list):
Faid Suez canal, 1973
14 Tanyas printed in Lebanon, 1982
Yamit in the Sinai, 1982
Russia, 1991
France, 1984
Tunisia, 1968
Australia, 1967 & 1972
New Zealand, 1980
Brooklyn, 1979
Romania, Belgium, Spain and others, 1978
Brazil, Portugal, India, Paraguay, Peru, China, and many from Israel from 1982 through 2005 and from the U.S. 1984
The seller said he is still collecting and will consider exchanging some Tanyas.
The bidding ends January 19, 2010 18:50 PST

it gives all the info. put on your glass’s if you need them and read all the info. no one is trying to scam . some one spent many years collecting and now he needs cash so he is selling. if you can’t afford don’t bid. hatzlacha to all
We call that a businessman. You could sell whatever you want
you are not obligated to buy from him!
by the way dallasjew nothing personal, but I wrote comment number 5 and I never bought something on
eBay and I’m also not planning to buy from that website!
You don’t have to be shocked): Everything is Thank G-D alright with me. Just don’t take this things to serious.
This guy and almost all the other sellers on eBay are just waiting for people that don’t know how to use common sense ( there brains)!
I AGREE THIS IS A SCAM! ITS OBVIOUSwhoemever bid already thinks they are getting 10 or all. Very very misleading – I’m shoked that #5 obviously one of us, would do this. Change it and repent…its wrong the way its being sold 🙁
The complete list of Tanyas is available by contacting the seller (myself) through ebay.
Winner chooses whichever Tanyas he wants in multiples of 10.
If someone is bidding then he knows what he is buying and how much he is paying. Why is it dreamland or geneyveland?
What are ‘bad hands’?
come on, use your precious time to write something what makes a bit more sense):
why have 2 bids bin retracted? 99.9% of ebay auctions never have one bidder retract their bid unless someones bidding up the price. I know how its done, and this seems fishy.
You can’t select which ones you are buying. And you have to buy them in groups of 10, but the price is for each book….
The guy is in dreamland – or geneyvaland. First of all he’s breaking Ebay rules by advertising the price for one Tanya while trying to sell them all 10 at a time. Second of all, 32 dollars each for most of them is insane and is an attempt to get someone who doesn’t want to see the Tanyas end up in bad hands (or someone who davka is bad hands) to extort people.
If this is a Yid in financial trouble, someone needs to check into the situation and get him real help.
who is selling their tanya collection?!
