Publisher and Editor of the Yated Ne’eman, Rabbi Pinchos Lipshutz, celebrated the Bar Mitzvah of his son this week in the Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown, right off the Tappan Zee Bridge in New York.
Among Ari Lipshutz‘s classmates, family and friends attending were Lubavitchers R’ Getzel Rubashkin of Crown Heights and his brother Meir Simcha Rubashkin.
Also present were a delegation of Satmar chassidim who sit with Lipshutz on the board of the Klal Yisrael Fund whose main focus is justice for Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin, the meat-plant executive imprisoned in Otisville.
Lipshutz, an influential figure in Lakewood and Litvish circles, has been at the forefront of the fundraising efforts to cover Rubashkin’s legal bills while trying to prove the wrong motives of the sentencing judge Linda Reade.
R’ Yoeli Shwartz of Monroe’s Kiryat Joel, chair of the fund, presented the Bar Mitzvah boy with a delectable cake topped with a pair of Tefillin boxes made from white chocolate.
R’ Shloma Lazer Meisels of Monsey, another member of the fund, gave a speech and praised Lipshutz for his devotion to bring justice to the world breaking past affiliation or community barriers.
An example of that was R’ Yisroel Besser, an author and features writer for Mishpacha Magazine, who has covered the Rubashkin case extensively.

Rabbi Pinny Lifshutz is one of the beacons of light in our times. Single handedly, he came to the defense of a wrongly maligned, defenseless human being at a time when no one else was doing so. May this good, good Yid be blessed with kol tuv, and may we merit that his Ahavas Yisroel and those of Klal Yisroel will finally move the heavens and bring Sholom M out of jail – a place… Read more »
