BROOKLYN – Controversial fliers with swastikas on them are creating a stir in Crown Heights.
Dr. Bidi Xili, the man responsible for posting the fliers, says they actually have a positive message. He is promoting etymology classes he offers that focus on the origin of words. He says the swastika on the fliers has no relation to anti-Semitism.
Still, local residents say the fliers are in bad taste and should be taken down.

A friend of mine told be that that Lynvol Samuels, about 3 years ago, attended a class in ‘The 7 Noahide Laws’ at Frankel’s Shul on President St. btwn Utica and Rochester Avenues. Mr Samuels became very aggressive and contradictory, and started talking about J…us. He was politely told to stop…that this was a class in the Noachide laws. He continued to be disruptive. Its too bad what it meant originally if that’s not a made up story. The fact is its well know for what it’s been represented as, and hwen anyone uses it it’s purpose is for hatred and anti semitism. He’s been around since forever. Whenever I walk past him, he asked me to “excuse me miss, can you put your bag on your left side?”. He’s totally harmless, just very queer. He blocks the street off at times by just sitting there and not moving, he kisses the many people who pass him and does a lot of just crazy weird stuff. He’s been there since my childhood. He’s just lol. I wouldn’t give him a second thought with these signs. His apology is actually hysterical!!!

why give validity to this person. no matter how crazy he is he consciously picked a symbol that now represents hate and plasters it all over a jewish neighborhood. What is this blame the victim?
Though I agree with you that the swastika has taken on the meaning of solely being a nazi symbol but…..

I know Mr. Lynvol Samuels for a few years and have ‘seen him in action’ walking around with a red umbrella in the middle of Utica Avenue creating a danger. He is not mentally ill but is a victim of his own big ego and he’s seeking attention, etc. This is the way he does it, knowing the public/media likes controversy and fame…who doesn’t? Sorry, regardless we do live in the 20th century, a mere 60 or so years ago from the Holocaust, when this symbol represented hatred, intolerance, death, and destruction. B’davka because this mentally ill person is also very bright, should it be labeled for what it is. He is knowingly spreading anti-Semitism in addition to the blatant letters he posts every week about ‘evil white jews’. He is clearly manipulating as good, his messages of hate that he publicly posts which does affect passersby and it should be dealt with as such.
The Swastika was not always a bad symbol, there are places in the world where it is still seen as a positive symbol. see:

This unfortunate man has a long history of bizarre behavior when he forgets to take his medication. He is a very intelligent but ill man. Please respond kindly as you would to anyone else who was sick.
