A Chanukah event was held the first time at The Grove, a popular fashion, shopping, dining and entertainment destination in Los Angeles, California.
Thousands were in attendance to usher in the first night of Chanukah on December 12 with a first of its kind Menorah Lighting Ceremony organized by Village Synagogue.
In attendance were Los Angeles Council members David Ryu and Paul Koretz, and Jewish actresses Emmanuelle Chriqui and Milana Vayntraub, and singer Lance Bass.
Rabbi Zalmy Fogelman, Director of Village Synagogue, led the lighting with Chriqui and welcomed a crowd of thousands to the popular Grove fashion and lifestyle destination.
“The Menorah reminds us that no matter how dark it is outside a single candle of goodness can transform the darkness outside into light,” Chriqui said in her remarks standing alongside the organizer Chana Fogelman.
Guests enjoyed a photo-op at a donut wall, the traditional latkes by Lieder’s, donuts, dreidels, gelt and giveaways. DJ Yoav and Distant Cousins Official entertained the crowd with a surprise performance by rapper Kosher Dillz.

The force behind the Village and the one who helped make this all happen is Chana Fogelman! Without her none of this would have been possible! Chana is completely given over to the Rebbes shlichus and worked tirelessly to help make this the incredible success that it was!
Please correct to include, Chana Fogelman, co-director of The Village Synagogue, who played a big part in coordinating this event.
