Lubavitcher Yeshiva of Ocean Parkway in Flatbush held its annual science fair on Thursday, after much anticipation on the part of its students.
Each grade was assigned a topic of research, and students were given three weeks to produce something that they had personally produced. Topics for investigation ranged from the 5 senses and the brain to the explosivity of volcanoes (a much-cherished topic among the boys).
In all, sixty students produced projects. The students, together with many proud parents, packed into a crowded auditorium for the fair, where the projects were installed onto previously-arranged tables and made available for public viewing, accompanied by their creators. Later, each student was given a chance to present their work on microphone to the crowd.
As a reward for their efforts, all participating students were treated to fun and games at Prospect Park and a barbeque. Additionally, all students received an award. For the students who excelled, whether in the effort expended or in the genius of their projects, special prizes, such as binoculars, cameras, a set of monopoly, a gameboy and a microscope, were awarded.
The Science Fair was organized by Rabbi Levi Rose, with the help of the entire dedicated staff and teachers.
