With summer camps beginning shortly, preparation is well underway for the 2nd annual Camp Training Conference by CGI Central, a division of The Shluchim Office.
Taking place this Thursday (June 21 – Tammuz 12) in Crown Heights for staff of day and overnight camps, the one day conference will gather hundreds of staff both Bochurim and girls (in separate locations) to learn and grow as camp staff.
For the second year in a row, the program has gained the “Educational Endorsement” of the ACA (American Camp Association), COLlive was told.
A qualified panel at ACA reviewed the program to verify the goals, learner outcomes, presenter qualifications, and evaluation requirements that are relevant for this educational program. The qualification also means that participants in the course are eligible for up to five Continued Education Credits (CECs).
Regarding the application and approval, the directors are thrilled with the news. “It was well worth the effort to obtain,” said Benzion Shemtov, Director of operations at CGI Central.
The training conference, which closes registration today, will feature presentations on five main camp topics including Hashkafa, Bullying & Social Exclusion, Abuse and Molestation Awareness and Prevention, Professionalism, and a keynote address from Mr. Michael Brandwein on the topic of Building Better Children.
Rabbi Shlomie Rabin, Director of CGI Central said, “We developed a great program and the ACA endorsement is a testament to that. We look forward to bringing staff a day of quality learning.”

Greatest staff ever in Joburg!
Chayale and Penina the best head counselors!
Does this cover the same stuff as PROJECT EMES? Also, why not have a DA/someone from the criminal justice system to discuss abuse?
I have a daughter going to staff in a day camp and a son going as a camper to CGI Parksville. I am so thankful that my daughter will get proper training and that my son will have a trained staff member.
Thank you for this valuable program. A CH mom.
you can actually get 7 credits, not just 5. Participants in the Camp Training Conference on June 21 – Tammuz 1 can receive as much as seven continuing education credits.
Go Benzion! You are the best.
