It began with an inspiring encounter at the Shluchos Kinus Resource fair two weeks ago.
Mohel Rabbi Yaakov Golomb attended both the Kinus Hashluchim and Kinus Hashluchos, handing out Shir Hamalot cards, which are customary to be placed on the crib and room of a new baby, and meeting with hundreds of shluchim and shluchos. Mrs. Rochel Shemtov, Shlucha in Montevideo, Uruguay stopped for a moment to share a personal story.
“When my second son wasn’t born after two days of labor, the Rebbe sent a dollar through my father-in-law Rabbi Avraham Shemtov,” she shared. “10 minutes later, the baby was born. The next day, Yud Tes Kislev, 5747 the Rebbe spoke about the importance of having Shir Hamalos cards and other Dvar Shebikdusha – holy objects – in the room, not only for the benefit of the child, but also for the mother to have an easy birth and the days afterwards.
“This is in addition to the Segulos involved in ensuring an easy and healthy labor, and a healthy child. It is essential for a child to be surrounded by holiness immediately upon birth. Although we do not know whether the child physically registers what he hears from the outside world, the Neshama is certainly listening. These early impressions have long-lasting effects throughout its life, years and decades later.”
Rabbi Yaakov Golomb, also known as “America’s Mohel,” for his travels doing brissin around North and South America, makes it his mission to make sure every Jewish baby has a Shir Hamaalot card in the delivery room.
“I was recently called by a Shliach in a remote part of the USA who asked me to overnight him a few Shir Hamaalot cards as his wife was about to go into labor,” Rabbi Golomb says.
After this encounter with Mrs. Shemtov, Rabbi Yaakov Golomb was inspired to expand his efforts for the rebbe’s instruction of having Shir Hamaalot cards at birth. If anyone is in need of a Shir Hamaalot card – please reach out to Rabbi Yaakov Golomb 718-249-3249 or AmericasMohel.com and they will recieve one free of charge.

Rabbi Yakkov is the best. Treated the mom and baby with such care and respect! Highly recommend him
For our third son we used Rabbi Golomb. We were blown away by his patience, kindness and willingness to explain every detail. He has a knack for people and gathered the room at the bris unlike we had before. After the bris, he checked in often to make sure everything was good and we really built a personal friendship. I highly recommend Rabbi Golomb.
