In the spirit of the year of Hakhel, the shluchos have invited all women of Crown Heights to join them for an evening of unity, on Friday night during the Worldwide Kinus Hashluchos.
The ‘Oneg Shabbos’ evening will feature guest speaker Rabbi Shmuel Lew, of London, England and will comemmorate the Yartzeit of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka ע”ה.
The event will be held on Friday evening, February 14th at 9:00 pm in Oholei Torah, 667 Eastern Parkway.
I am a Shlucha myself, and I find the title of this article IS condescending to Crown Heights Women. Instead of saying ‘Shluchos Invite Crown Heights Women”, it should have said “Evening of Unity during Convention”. The statement: “Shluchos INVITE crown heights women” can be seen as derogatory and condescending to the Crown Heights Women. A little sensitivity is in order. That being said, this haughty attitude is not held by the Shluchos, just some “on the top”, and as a Shlucha, the tone rankles me. number 6 could not of said it better and good luck the women can always teach men a thing or 2 when it comes to politics
great idea !! 😉
Maybe instead of a hakhel gathering we can have group therapy
The comments posted are sad. The shluchos are not on their “high horses” and the CH women do not try to make Shluchos feel like garbage. Shluchos as well as CH women are humans, with faults and qualities. “The Shluchos” are not a band of women. Each one exists in her far flung community struggling in many ways that women living in “regular” communities can not begin to fathom. And the CH women deal with their own struggles living in a public frum community. Lets be Dan Lekaf Zechus. Look at the other with a positive eye. Dont judge until… Read more »
The ch women exist and are high and mighty and some of them have a way of making shluchos feel like garbage when they come for the kinus
Why look at everything so negatively?! Do you feel less important?
As a long time resident Crown Heightser I consider it a special zchus to host the shluchos – that’s what we’re here for – to provide the gashmiyus with comfortable accomodations and heimishe food etc. We try to make them feel at home and encourage them. Moshiach Now!
So the shluchos have come off their high horses to acknowledge the women who support them financially and house them when they are in town. Wow, we crown heights women actually exist!
