The International Conference of Chabad-Lubavitch Shluchos begins Wednesday evening at Lubavitch Headquarters in Brooklyn. Now in its 21st year, the Conference organizers anticipate 2500 women will attend, the majority of them Chabad representatives of Jewish communities in some 70 countries worldwide. The theme of this year’s conference is Jewish unity.
Scheduled to correspond to 22 Shvat, commemorating the yahrzeit of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson, the wife of the Lubavitcher Rebbe,
This Conference will be the first opportunity for Chabad women representatives to convene following the Mumbai massacre and the murder of their colleague, Rivki Holtzberg.
“I am certain that the Shluchos (women representatives) are coming to this conference with a desire to bond, to remember Rivki and take inspiration from her extraordinary life as a Chabad representative,” said Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Director of the International Conferences of Chabad Shluchim and Shluchos.
Lectures, symposia and workshops, as well as one-on-one mentoring opportunities will be included in the five-day conference.
The conference closes Sunday night with a gala banquet dinner at the New York Hilton.
Just wondering what the actual conference dates, activites and costs are. I went to the kinus.com website and it says that it is from thursday to sunday vs. wednesday to sunday and there is no mention of costs yet. Those of us who need to travel to attend and arrange matters to take off of work, etc. need to know specifics in order to make this happen. Thank you!
the family should and will be invited! what it says on COLlive is irrelevant.
for the record, the video this year, which is the highlight of the Kinus is about the holztbergs.
What time will you be commencing the live coverage of the banquet?
Where does it say that the entire Kinnus is being dedicated to Rivky Holtzberg. It never says that.
The Kinnus is dedicated to all the Shluchos who are doing the Rebbe’s holy work. All Rabbi Kotlarsky said was that Shluchos will be able to get together and remember Rivky Holtzberg.
When you run the Kinnus you will do as you wish. Leave out the criticism even if its subtle.
It is a little unsettling to read that the entire Kinus is to be dedicated in memory of Rivky Holtzberg yet none of the members of the Holtzberg family were invited to participate in any of the events.
It is understood that they might not be Shluchos, but to advertise this event as remembering and sharing inspirational stories from Rivky’s life, and to not have any members of her family present is just very unfortunate.
