Members of the Crown Heights community joined the family of Rabbi Mendel Baumgarten for an event Monday evening to mark the Shloshim – 30 days since his passing.
Rabbi Baumgarten, patriarch of a large Lubavitcher family, was known as a devoted Chosid, who had an open home and hosted many guests.
His home was nicknamed “Avraham Avinu’s house” for the open and hospitable approach that he, together with his wife, Nechama obm, had to many visitors for many years.
People from all walks of life, including future baalei teshuva, visiting the Rebbe at Lubavitch Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway, lodged at the Baumgarten’s warm home, which inspired many to build a Chassidic family of their own.
At the gathering which was held at the Kahal Chassidim Shul, also known as the Baumgarten Shul, where Rabbi Baumgarten davened for over 50 years, his fellow Shul members and family members spoke of his dedication to the Rebbe’s directives and his great discipline as a devoted Chosid.
Speakers spoke about Rabbi Baumgarten’s great influence among those he encountered, and what a great inspiration he was to all that came in contact with him.
This Zchus of these great wonderful people should be for all a source of blessing.
I’d also like to give a shout out to Reb Levi, for his work in being מקדש שם שמיםץומקדש שם לויבאוויטש.
A most wonderful family.
Only שמחות, and good fortune to all.
A special Shout Out to Rabbi SB, whose selfless dedication and work for the people living in the Rebbes shchuna, and those from all over the globe visiting the museum
When I first arrived at 770 to be by the Rebbe in Elul 5724 I too enjoyed the very warm hospitality of reb Mendel and his late wife Nechama. OH
