Reb Shmuel and Chani Bensoussan (nee Katan) have recently been appointed as Shluchim to the city of Perpignan, France.
Reb Shmuel relates: After getting married nearly a year ago, my wife and I started to take steps to fulfill our life dream: to join the Rebbe’s army of Shluchim.
We saw a message that was shared by Rabbi Mottel Pevzner a”h, stating that he was looking for a couple to come assist him in the Shlichus in Perpignan. Together with my wife, we spent a beautiful Shabbos with Reb Mottel and Rochel and the amazing Pevzner family.
We spent many hours discussing with him the unique Shlichus that he had.
We returned home, and after much deliberation decided to make Perpignan our new home, and join Reb Mottul in his Shlichus. We sat down, wrote a letter to the Rebbe, requesting the Rebbe’s blessings in our new endeavor, and informed Reb Mottul, that yes, we are coming.
Three days after writing to the Rebbe, we received the terrible news, that Reb Mottul Z”l was no longer with us.
The family immediately contacted us saying, Reb Mottul is counting on you, it was his final will, that the Shlichus should be continued without interruption and so we did.
Chabad 66’s mission is to reach the over 500 Jewish families in our area. In the near future we hope to begin, Kosher lunch programs for children, Cteen, adult education, and much more.
We hope to continue Reb Mottul’s legacy of a fully operational Chabad Community Center, a lively and active home for the entire Jewish community.

Rabbi Mottel…your last actions show tremendous courage and selflessness
