Shalhevet Unites School Girls

Shalhevet, an extra-curricular program for Crown Heights girls, recently ended a year of monthly gatherings for 7th and 8th grade girls of local schools.

60-70 girls packed into Beis Levi Yitzchok once a month for a Melava Malka run by professional craft teacher Mushky Avtzon of “On a Roll” crafts.

Each girl created her own state-of-the-art craft project, accompanied by music and great nosh. The activity was followed by a chassidishe farbrengen run by Beis Rivka 12th graders, headed by Chani Giro and coordinated by Mrs. Z. Sasson and Mrs. C. Goldstien.

Shalhevet is made possible with the support of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council and Beis Levi Yitzchok.

Motzoei Shabbos is the day we do come,
Whether you’re from B’nos Menachem,
Beis Chaya Mushka or Beis Rivka
The money goes to Tzedaka.

Mushky Avtzon comes and makes Arts & Crafts,
And we always have a blast!
It’s either duct tape, scissors and glue,
A gum-ball machine and a corkscrew!

The volunteers are always so sweet,
Storytellers, winners, nosh and treats,
Can’t wait to see ya’ next year,
Because by Shalhevet ….for you they do care
