After going months without being updated, the FridayLight sign on Kingston Avenue is up and running. Crown Heights residents and visitors can once again view the local candle-lighting time scrolling by on the corner of Kingston and Crown, above the House of Glatt.
“You would think that everyone in Crown Heights knows what time Shabbos is,” said FridayLight Director Mimi Hecht. “But we had a lot of people begging us to fix it.”
“Of all Shabbosim, we knew we couldn’t let Shabbos Chanukah pass without spreading the light again,” she added.
The sign currently reads, “In Memory of Pesha Leah Bas Shraga Feivel Lapine/Shabbos Candle Lighting at 4:14/HAPPY CHANUKAH!”
To get e-mails and/or texts with a weekly candle-lighting meditation and receive notifications with the lighting times for your city, take three seconds to get the FridayLight Facebook app at Facebook.com/SpreadLight.
Special thanks to the Crown Heights Community Council, Mendy Margolin, Yossi Solomon and electrician Chaim Backman for helping fix the sign in time for Shabbos Chanukah.
