No forced entry, how much are your locks?
October 15, 2013 5:40 pm

Nowadays, anyone can EASILY learn how to pick a lock. Just do a search on a tem like “How to pick a lock youtube” -plenty of “shiurim” to choose from.
Yes, if your locks are cheap, you are vulnerable! While more expensive locks are no guarantee against picking, why make it easy with the cheap ones?

To#9 You can join the NYPD and replace their laziness.

The only way
October 13, 2013 9:03 am

There is no way for police to catch a criminal especially at 5am. The criminal is too talented and aware of his surroundings. How would the cops catch him if the people in the house slept through it. The only way to stop this is for them to take crime seriously. When they do catch someone they need to put them away for a long time so others think twice

part of the problem is that the cops work so many overtime hours during the week to give yidden tickets they know shabbos is their day off also, no point stepping up patrol if you cant bring in tickets as well. less cops = more crime

Put cameras on every corner and have the nypd watch it 24 hr the chjcc gets 14 million a year they should be able to afford it

oh yes you can!
October 13, 2013 4:19 am

You can so blame the nypd, no, not that they can control everything but we happen to have quite an incompetent police force. If I can walk past a parked “patrol”car and see a sleeping police officer inside, then I have every right to blame the police force, at least partially for not having stopped these crimes

just a guy

totally agree – you can’t blame PD – they cant be everywhere every minute. These comments are insane suggesting they could or should.

They try the best they can – obviously we need to try to figure out what to do to avoid getting robbed. Contacting this police officer names above is a good start.

As is speaking to shomrim or shmira (whichever your heart desires) and having one of their members explain what can be done.

The answer is not to sound like a bunch of croaks complaining and whining.

Police are not the enemy
October 13, 2013 1:52 am

I see patrols all the time, but they can not control the whole neighborhood, unless you want to live we do police state.
The only one to blame here is the thief. Whining and complaining will not solve anything.People just need to be more vigilant and careful and pray that we catch him or her.

Maybe Bill de Blasio is right. NYPD ARE lazy, especially in 71st.

Police don't seem to care

Are the police asleep ? Why is he so hard to catch ? He has been stealing silver for months now . He must be pawning them somewhere . Or are they looking the other way

Chevra, be smart

It says that there was no sign of forced entry this time – always double check that all windows & doors are locked & don’t leave your house key in a “secret” place for family or guests – a goniff knows all of those secret places !! And remind your out-of-town guests that it is crucial that they lock the door behind themselves everytime.
