He was a special person.
This is comment #18 so I am dedicating it to the beautiful life that Moshe Abelsky led in this life. I am not Lubavitch (not even Orthodox) but it has been my honor to know Moshe and the Abelsky family for many years. Reb Zalman, Moshe’s father, was summoned by the Rebbe to leave Eretz Yisroel to take the position of Rabbi in Kishinev, which at that time had no rabbinic presence. His rebbitizin followed without complaint, even though it meant leaving her family behind. The entire Abelsky family, including our friends Zushe and Chaya, Moshe’s brother and sister-in-law stand… Read more »

My kids asked me where I was going. They knew Moishe, even though I am not on his route, and I was paying for pick up and drop off at my door, it was a special treat for me to walk 3 blocks to put my son on his bus. (I did it in the freezing cold, because I saw the difference it made in my sons’ day.) I answered that I was going to the Levaya. My big boy, in all 4 year old innocence, explained to me, “Ma, Moishe has a very very very big boo boo, but… Read more »
