This week, a unique bris ceremony was held for the Orange County Jewish Community.
On Tuesday, 16 Adar II, several hundred members of the Orange County community, as well as family and friends, gathered for the bris of Asher Zelig Burston, son of Rabbi Pesach and Chana Burston, Chabad Shluchim of Orange County.
The Bris was held at 6:00pm in the Rushmore Estate Ballroom, which is the private estate of Dr. Seth and Nadine Pulver, close friends of the Burstons.
Utilizing the event as an educational opportunity, Rabbi Burston gave a detailed overview of the Bris ceremony and significance.
Then, Rabbi Burston announced that the Satmar Rebbe, of Kiryas Joel, will be honored with being Sandek. The Satmar Rebbe, escorted by several of his chassidim, then entered the hall and mohel Rabbi Rabbi Eliyahu Shain of Crown Heights performed the bris.
After the Satmar Rebbe left, the guests sat down for a Seudas Mitzvah. This is believed to be the first time the Satmar Rebbe and the greater Orange County Jewish community joined for an event.

Are we not an Am Echod serving Hashem Echod? (Or at least that’s how we are Meant to be!) Is it not time for ALL of us to realize that all the semi-labels we use to describe ourselves – Lubavitch, Satmar, Bobov, Litvish, Yekke, Sefardi, Belz, what have you – are Labels – designated to identify – PERHAPS – varieties of darkei avodah (halevai!)- but… Read more »
