Countless immigrants, including my family, came to America for the ‘American dream;’ for religious freedom and the right and ability to pursue happiness, regardless of any extrinsic factors.
In the past generations of Jewish people have been wronged, tortured, abused and condemned.
The old country did not give us a place for public forum. We were conditioned to talk about our hardships only amongst ourselves in fear of punishment for voicing our opinion about the violation of basic human rights.
As Jewish Americans, we are all under the safety net of the Constitution.
It is our responsibility to our community and to America to voice our opinion on freedom of religion, the pursuit of happiness, and fair trial by jury – these are focal points of American justice.
The case of Sholom Rubashkin has pushed the Jewish people to a new level of social consciousness and power.
When one Jew is mistreated we have all been bullied. I have experienced the double standard treatment many times throughout my boxing career.
While many occurrences have not been made public, unfortunately I can say that in the real world sometimes things are not created equal and it is our social responsibility to change that. It is obvious to most people that the punishment does not fit the wrongs Rubashkin has committed.
In comparison, let us take a look at other CEOs and companies in the news lately: Michael Bianco got 1 year and a day, Swift & Co. 1 year and one day, Action Rags USA – in which approximately 85% of their work force consisted of illegal immigrants – got a 2 year probation and a $6000 fine.
Then why does Sholom Rubashkin, who is a first time non-violent offender, get life in prison?
This case has baffled and outraged the Jewish community. It is the personal responsibility of all of us to voice our opinion publicly, to stand up to injustice and mistreatment.
America is the best country in the world, and the law of the land protects all its citizens. It is our responsibility to ourselves to future generations and this land of America for our voices to be heard and to demand equal justice for all its citizens without compromise.
Go Salita! One thing I would change about your speech ISRAEL is the best country!

Dimitriy has proven himself to be a true Jewish fighter in every sense of the word. Thank you, Dimitriy for speaking out. We all have a responsibility for speaking out. I want you, as you read this, to close your eyes, and just for one moment, put yourself in Sholem Mordechai’s shoes:. Sitting in a orange jumpsuit in some Midwest fardoben jail with frightful shkotzim lording over you. Your fellow jail birds are tattooed vilde chazerim that you would never want to cross paths with, let alone be at your mercy. At every point and turn, you have been denied… Read more »
Does the constitution of the united really provide all citizens, of the USA with equal rights, or is their shtick that high rollers big ceo’s can pull and payoff, whilst a yid like smr used his money to help poor people,
What has happened to the constitution that the founding fathers wrote, that has or had given the name of this country the medina shell chesed (country of kindness) life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
He hasn’t been sentenced, yet.
The question is why is the defense screaming life in prison they should be screaming even 1 year in prison is bad for Sholom?.
1 year in prison, pay restitution some probation that would be fair, but why is the defense saying 6 years?!!!!
I understand your Yearly Chabad A Thon draws millions of viewers and brings in tons of needed California funds; but there’s a Chabad Jewish Life at stake, so please do what you do best. Get on the stage with your leading actors and show the country that us yidden will not stand for this possible stinky injustice meted out.
VERY true! what a good example.. i feel that he shouldn’t be getting hatever they decide WHY DONT THEY JUST GIVE PROBATION????????????? omg if O.J Simpson can get off for muredering then shalom mordichai can too!!!!
Yes,after reading a Gangster,had 13 past Criminal Records.thats he was incarcerated 13 times.Most for stabbing 2 girls,and assualts on various people.The last month,he sold Drugs to Govt undercover agents. RUBUSKIN,has no Record.He recieved 8 years in Jail,for all this. Rubushkins case,is on a 1-10,is a 1,or less. The Ganster,is a 100.His lawyers and Judge will get the picture shortly.Bank CEOs,are all Free.The American Justice system,is very Damaged,and unfair. Its a Fact.Remember ,Enron,Lehman brothers? I dont need to go any further.Free ,RUBASHKIN NOW. J Tobias

I agree and I think we all agree with you, and we all feel like thats exactly what were doing, like the petitionad all the programs and rallies etc…but our voices dont seem to be heard by this great country. the problom is that its not about justice anymore, its about polotics now, its Rubashkin against the prosicution a.k.a the govornment. The only way I beleive we can fight this is politicly. We have to get major poloticians involved and celebreties, people that are icons, because the government is a big icon, and to try and fight it with justice,… Read more »
