A Hei Teves farbrengen in 770 turned into a festive Seduas Hoda’ah – meal of thanks – for Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin, recently released from prison.
The large crowd at Chabad’s Main Shul in 770 were addressed by Rubashkin, who shared words of inspiration about his faith in G-d even throughout the tremendous test of his trial and unjust sentence.
Rubashkin’s lawyer, Gary Apfel, also in attendance, received large applause at praise from Rubashkin for his perseverance for 5 years, even when the case seemed bleak.
Rubashkin referred to Apfel as “a Tzadik,” and related that they would learn a Sicha of the Rebbe at each meeting, before they began discussing work. He also described the many times they were denied by the judge, as recently as 10 days ago.
“The miracle that I’m coming out is not through teva (nature),” Ruabshkin told the crowd.
“G-d wanted to show us, you guys think you’re running the show, [let Me show you], ‘Sholom Mordechai’s coming home!,'” Rubashkin said.
The crowd burst into joyous dancing once again, hoisting them both on their shoulders for another night of celebrating the miraculous release.
