Released Time Walks To 60 Public Schools On Shavuos

With Shavuos falling on Wednesday, coinciding with the weekly opportunity for Jewish kids in public schools to learn about Judaism, Released Time proceeded as usual, but this time with the Bochurim walking on foot.

165 Released Time Bochurim set out to various public schools throughout New York to conduct special Released Time sessions, allowing the children to hear the Aseres Hadibros in Shuls and celebrate Shavuos.

Despite the challenge of staying up all night immersed in learning and saying Tikkun Leil Shavuos, Released Time Bochurim rose to the occasion with unparalleled enthusiasm and determination.

Due to the lengthy walks to many of the public schools, some exceeding three hours, and Released Time generally occurring from 1-2 pm, Minyanim for Shachris were held at the Released Time Program offices beginning at 7:00 AM.

An inspiring display of dedication and commitment unfolded on the streets of New York. “Early in the morning, they embarked on walks that, for some, took up to four hours!” said Rabbi Sadya Engel, lead coordinator of the project. “Walking to various public schools and having the children hear the Aseres Hadibros is what we know the Rebbe wanted us to do.”

The dedication didn’t stop there. In addition to organizing Minyanim and securing locations in various Shuls to host the Aseres Hadibros, the Bochurim arranged over 75 ice cream parties, creating joyful and memorable experiences for the children and their families. These ice cream parties were generously sponsored by R’ Yossi & Batsheva Popack.

Released Time extends its deepest gratitude to the exceptional instructors. Their commitment and passion in heeding the Rebbes call in saving the pure Neshamos in public schools are truly remarkable and serve as an inspiration to everyone
