Rebbetzin Shaina Schneerson (nee Chitrik) passed away on Friday, Yud Daled Iyar, which marks Pesach Sheini and the 29th day of the Omer, Chessed sheb’Hod.
She was 91.
Shaindel (Sonia) Chitrik Schneerson was born on Beis Iyar 5692 in Kharkivs’ka oblast, Ukraine, to Harav Hachossid Yehuda Chitrik and Keila (Tumarkin) Chitrik, daughter of the Gaon, Rabbi Aharon Tumarkin, the chief Rabbi of Charkov.
She and her family escaped Stalin’s regime and first moved to Montreal, Canada, before eventually settling in Brooklyn, New York.
Shaindel married R’ Sholom Ber Schneerson OBM, the son of Rabbi Schneur Zalman Schneerson and great-grandson of Rabbi Baruch Sholom Schneerson, the eldest son of the Tzemach Tzedek, third Lubavitcher Rebbe.

She is survived by her sons, Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson (Los Angeles), Menachem Mendel Schneerson (Crown Heights), and Chaya Herzog (Crown Heights), as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The levaya will be held today (Friday) passing by 770 Eastern Parkway at 3:45 PM.
The Schneerson/Herzog families will be sitting shiva at 1378 President Street in Crown Heights:

Maariv: 8:35 PM
