Israel came to a standstill for two mournful minutes on Tuesday as air-raid sirens pierced the air in memory of the 6 million Jews murdered by the Nazis in the Holocaust.
The siren was followed by an official wreath-laying ceremony at Yad Vashem as well as a Knesset ceremony during which lawmakers read out the names of family members who perished in the Holocaust.
In deference to the solemnity of the day, restaurants, bars and places of entertainment remained closed across Israel.
Memorial ceremonies took place at Yad Vashem in Israel and around the world.

Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis
Esther Jungreis is the founder of the international Hineni movement in America. A Holocaust survivor, she has made it her life’s mission to bring back Jews to Orthodox Judaism.
Jungreis spent her early childhood in Szeged, Hungary, where her father was chief rabbi of the Orthodox Jewish community.
During World War II, her family was sent to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp; she and her father survived.
Due to her experiences as a Holocaust survivor, she became “determined to devote her life to combating the spiritual holocaust that was occurring here in the United States.”
Amazing!! Everyone should listen to what she is saying!
And Thats how Moshiach will come!!
what an inspiring talk!!!
There are alot of people who dont fit into the Lubavitcher mold for Kiruv, and they do fit into her mold. The people she is mekarev are also Jews, and also become frum. They may not do it like we do, but they become frum too. There is, unfortunately, plenty of work to be done out there. We cant be the only ones. She also speaks from her heart. The reason I know this, is because if u look at her record of success, u will see how many people became frum, through Hineni. It says Devorim Hayotzim min halev,… Read more »
The Rebbe wanted others to follow his example!
Here is a woman doing great work and sharing a most inspirational message. Why can’t you just applaud a truly great personality? Do the words sinas chinam or kinah mean anything to you? Do you recall the Rebbe vying for credit for being first? Are you absolved from concerning yourself with the chillul Hashem of a post like yours? By-the-way, how many people have you inspired lately?
O.K. O.K. Calm down we all know that the Rebbe started Kiruv
work like 30 – 40 yrs. before everybody else. As long as its doing what it’s sopposed to……
TRULY AMAZING! UNTIL LUBAVITCH BECAME POPULAR FOR THEIR “KIRUV” WORK THE HOLY REBETZIN DID NOT HAVE ANY HINENI. LIKE ALL THE OTHER GROUPS, WHEN THEY SAW THE SUCCESS OF LUBAVITCH THEY BECAME BRAVE, COURAGEOUS NOBLE HEROES AND HEROINS (AND ACTRESSES) AND JOINED THE BANDWAGON NEVER REMEMBERING FOR A FRACTION OF A SECOND THAT IF IT WEREN’T FOR LUBAVITCH PAVING THE WAY THEY WOULD BE HIDING IN THEIR LITTLE OR BIG SHTIBLACH AND EXCOMUNICATING THE OUTSIDE “GOYISHE” VELT. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!
wow, she is such an inspiration
is the only word I have to say!!! Yasher Koiach and AMEN!
I hope we all learn from this great woman!!!
