The levaya of Rabbi Zalman Wilschanski OBM began on Wednesday night from the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, New Jersey.
It was the institution from where he served as the longtime Rosh Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim of Morristown, educations generations of bochurim.
The entire Yeshiva came out for the levaya, as well as members of the local Chabad community where Rabbi Wilschanski served as rov and moreh hora’ah.
Rabbi Moshe Herson, Dean of the Yeshiva and Head Shliach of New Jersey, publicly asked mechilah as customary.
“Reb Zalmen, when you come there, tell them to take you to the Rebbe,” he emotionally said. “If they ask you why, say that your entire life was dedicated to be mechanech bochurim and kinder be Chassidim, mekusharim to the Rebbe.”
The levaya will continue on Thursday 12:00 PM at Lubavitch World Headquarters 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights.
Horav Zalman, was a true hasidisher Yid, he was blessed with an insightful vision, great memory, with a wealth of Torah Knowledge and intense dedication to the Rebbe.
He is and will be terribly missed by all.
