Rabbi Yonah Pruss, a father and grandfather who was a pillar of the Golders Green, London, Chabad community, passed away on Thursday, 20 Iyar, 5783.
He was 59.
R’ Yonah grew up in Crown Heights, and as a bochur began doing Shlichus in Dniepr, and he served as a devoted Shliach there together with his wife Chana (nee Vogel) for many years.
They later moved to Golders Green, London, where he was active in the community.
Rabbi Pruss gave many classes on the Rebbe’s Mamarim, after a resolution made during a Shabbos afternoon farbrengen in the Kingsley Way Beth Hamedrash in Hampstead Garden Suburb London.
The Shiurim were usually held daily before Shachris and were recorded live.
He recently battled an illness.
He is survived by his wife Chana and children Sorola Notik, Mushka Druk, Baila Goldstein, Mendy, Yitzchok, Tzviki, Shneur, Koppel, Chasya, and Leah, and grandchildren.
He is also survived by his father Rabbi Shmarya Pruss of Crown Heights and siblings, R’ Yitzchak Pruss – Crown Heights, Henya Greenberg – Los Angeles, CA, Zalman Pruss, and Chani Vogel, as well as parents in law, Rabbi Feivish and Dusya Vogel.
The levaya will begin in London on Motzei Shabbos at 11:30 pm, and continuing in New York.
The Levaya in New York will take place on Monday, passing by 770 at 9:30 am and from there to Montefiore cemetery.

Bde! what a beautiful person and personality. Hashem takes the best. We can’t understand his ways down here. I’m going to miss him so much. I can’t stop crying on the “sraifo asher soraf hashem”, “kol hamorid demaois al odom kosher ….”

We were in Yeshiva together.
Ocean Parkway and later in Morristown.
We were chavrusa for short time at both places.
In Morristown i burnt my hand and he helped the terrible burn with special liquid.
