This week I was told a beautiful story about my Husband, Yitzi.
It was in the months after his diagnosis of ALS and we were realizing that there was nothing in the way of treatments or trials and things were progressing pretty rapidly. The five Rabbis that had taken upon themselves to care for our family decided they would go with Yitzi to the Ohel – the grave site of the Lubavitcher Rebbe – and pray for a miracle. They went there and recited the entire book of Tehillim – Psalms- and then had a farbrengen with many fellow Shluchim. At the Farbrengen, Rabbi Mushy Fogelman told a story.
“In 1978, My father was asked by one of the organizations, I believe it was FREE, to go to Russia to organize a bais din amongst the anash to deal with some pressing issues. In addition, to visit the various communities and bring Tefillin, mezuzas, give Shiurim, etc.
“Before he left, he wrote in to the Rebbe and asked that he be given a specific shlichus from the Rebbe.
“After receiving a sharp reply, because he had received tzedakah to distribute, the Rebbe sent a bottle of mashke to farbreng with the Chassidim in Moscow. At that time things were difficult in Moscow, several people had been brought in for questioning. There were difficulties with davening in the Marina Roscha shul. The farbrengen in Moscow went from 7 pm to 9 am. At the end of the farbrengen, the Russian Chassidim took the empty bottle of mashke and wrote on it ‘Noki Maychashash Atzvus’ (clean of any melancholy), and asked my father to bring it back to the Rebbe, which he did.”
Soon after that, the farbrengen was winding down and it was just Yitzi and Mushy left.
Yitzi took an empty Mashke bottle and asked Mushy to write on it, ‘Noki Maychashash Atzvus.’
Yitzi asked Mushy to go back to the Ohel with him. Yitzi took the bottle and put it in the Ohel of the Rebbe and said to the Rebbe, “If this is what the Rebbe needs from me, then I am ‘Noki Maychashash Atzvus.’ I am ready to do this without bitterness and fear and I will do my very best. And so he has.
A true chassid in every sense of the word and a brilliant sense of humor to boot!
He’s incredible and gives us a lot of strengh!!
May Hashem give Rabbi Yitzi a refua shlema now !!
Lots of koach to his amazing wife and children and mazal tov for the wedding!!

Very moving
Brochos to Reb Mushi and mishpacha and entire Fogelman family for everything they do for klal Yisroel, especially behind the scenes.
I was at the farbreingen, I drove Yitzy to the ohel, the five shluchim plus a few more people relatives of Yitzy were there, the farberingen took place in a house- trailor by the ohel , not in the big tent, in order to keep it privat. I would like to say something of an other angle, on the way to & from the ohel, we discussed the Shlichus in Temecula, it was very clear from Yitzy that he IS and WILL STAY the Shliach in Temecula for good, he just brought someone to help him out till he becomes… Read more »
