Rabbi DovBer Pinson, Shliach in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn and Director of the Iyyun Center for Spirituality, has done it again with a groundbreaking work on ‘Achdus Haboreh’ – the Unity of Hashem, entitled: ‘The Garden of Paradox: The Essence of Non Dual Kabbalah; in three conversations.’
A typical shiur with Rabbi Pinson – world-renowned scholar, author, and teacher – usually includes an assortment of Satmar as well as other Chassidim, Brooklyn hipsters, Manhattan professionals, and elite intelligentsia – the common denominator is a thirst for comprehensive knowledge and a deep seeking of truth and answers.
The classes are often intense and lively and involve deep questioning by all the various attendees. They very rarely stay on topic.
‘The Garden of Paradox’ is an incredible undertaking, drawing from the most asked questions from many years of these intense conversations, and creating a treatise on ‘Achdus Haboreh’ -the underlying truth of everything – that all is One and Ein od Milvado.
The book begins with a stunningly clear and concise summary on Kabbalah and Chassidus that lays out the premise in an organized, and progressional format.
A reviewer comments: “Really liked the conversations – but I think the book is even worth it just for the introduction – the clearest explanation of Kabbalah and Chassidus that I have ever read.”
The book continues with conversations between Rav Pinson and three representational students, embodying respectively, the philosopher, the activist and the mystic. In a warm, engaging and conversational style, the biggest questions of life are addressed – and countless ‘aha’ moments ensue…
The three conversations are divided into the categories of Creator, Creation and Consciousness.
Some of the questions addressed include – Who is G-d? Who am I?
Why does the world exist? What is my purpose in this life?
A reviewer writes:
“You know all those ‘pat’ answers the Rabbis always give to the really important questions? None of that here. Rav Pinson includes the reader in the conversation, and it feels like he was gently guiding me towards the answers. As I was reading, I felt like I ‘got’ it for the first time. I felt my world expanding as I was reading the book. I read it a week ago, and I still feel expansive from it. These teachings really resonate with me, and I will return to this book over and over. Thank you Rav Pinson, this book is a gift to the world.”
‘The Garden of Paradox’ is available in bookstores, and on the web at Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com.
Also available in Kindle version, at www.Amazon.com.

As someone who has worked for several frum organizations I can attest that there are NO questions that Rabbis, especially shluchim, avoid. They are ready to speak on every conceivable subject known to man. If they don’t know the answers they pray that they’ll say the right thing.. and they usually do!
Amazing author. I was looking for one of his books on self improvement and it was out of print in both Judaica world and Hamafitz. Hatzlocho rabbo mechayil el choyil
looking forward to reading this book. A book that gives real answers it seems.
They say not to judge a book by its cover, but this one is a beauty. I can’t wait to read it!
Yay Rabbi Pinson, and yay for his equally talented wife 🙂
