Israel’s Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi David Lau visited Chabad of Poway, California, Sunday to bring comfort to the victims of the Pesach shooting attack.
The day also marked the Shloshim of Mrs. Lori Kaye Hy”d, who was brutally murdered by the shooter.
Rabbi Lau is currently on a visit to California, as a guest of “Seeach Sod”, an organization supporting children with special needs and their families.
Rabbi Lau spent the day at Chabad of Poway, joining Shachris prayers at the Chabad Center and spending some private moments with Rabbi Goldstein, talking about the attack on the Shul and the many miracles that occurred.
“Rabbi Lau said that he came here to give us encouragement, but he is getting encouragement from us,” Rabbi Goldstein told COLlive.
Rabbi Lau then joined the congregation for breakfast, where he gave a talk and presented a gift from Israel.
Rabbi Lau spoke about the bravery and perseverance of the Poway community and said that they are an example for the rest of the world, citing the amazing unprecedented Kiddush Hashem which followed the attack.
Rabbi Shimon Levy, CEO of Seeach Sod, presented Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein with a gift on behalf of Seeach Sod’s Beit Chabad.
In his remarks, Chief Rabbi Lau cried out, “Lori-Leah! Just as you were the sacrifice of the community in your death, be the leader of the community in Heaven! Grasp on to the Throne of Glory! Do not cease crying and requesting of G-d that He bring the redemption and comfort the Jewish People.”
