It is approximately 40 years since I was a curious בחור’ל in my teens bent on knowing who’s who in Lubavitch . . . the עסקנים and the ‘power brokers’ -so to speak. Though Chabad was making strident gains in recognition even back then, it was still a far cry from where we stand today ב”ה. I remember that the Press those days was generally not very kind to the orthodox Jewish community (particularly to the Chassidic element). With the exception of one group . . . Chabad.
