Rabbi Kotlarsky Announces Relaunch of Shluchim Simcha Fund

A Simcha fund that supports Shluchim with extra funds during family life-cycle events will be re-launched by Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch in conjunction with Keren Hashluchim in the near future, COLlive has learned.

The major news was announced by Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Chairman of the International Conference of Shluchim, at the opening session of the regional Kinus Hashluchim of the Former Soviet Union which began yesterday in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

“With so many around the world suffering due to the pandemic and its aftermath, I realized that we must do something to help,” Rabbi Kotlarsky said. “We learn from the Rebbe that the best response to spiritual and physical challenges is we must do more, and more and more.”

Rabbi Kotlarsky is working with a group of donors to raise the funds which will make a difference to Shluchim running Chabad institutions around the globe. The stipends will be sent to Shluchim to assist with life-cycle events which require extra funds, such as the birth of a child, or making a child’s Bar Mitzvah or wedding.

Rabbi Kotlarsky said the fund was relaunched on Chof Av, as a tribute to the Rebbe’s father Rabbi Levi Yitzchok Schneerson, on his yartzeit and will continue as a pilot program until the Kinus Hashluchim, when hopefully it will be expanded to a long-term project.

“Yesterday, I began to call donors to request their participation in this great endeavor,” he said.

The fund is the first of a number of groundbreaking projects being launched to support and expand the work of Shluchim.

Details will be forthcoming on how to receive the grants in the near future, he said.
