Rabbi Farkash’s Staple Book Updated and Reprinted

The seminal English version of Taharah Kahalachah – The Laws of Family Purity, authored by Rabbi Yekusiel Farkash, a prominent halachic authority from Jerusalem, has been out of print for some time. Now, a third, updated edition has been published and is available for purchase.

This book aims to elucidate the numerous details and address the many possible scenarios in a clear and user-friendly manner that will allow the reader to find necessary answers whenever the need arises.

A special emphasis has been placed on clarifying the various opinions of all the major poskim whose views are accepted in these halachos and then summarizing the different customs followed in various communities. The translated English version has been prepared by Rabbi Yehuda Altein.

Since its first printing in 2015, the English translation has quickly joined its Hebrew counterpart as a valuable resource for these laws in every Jewish home and has been a staple for the laws of taharas hamishpachah in thousands of homes worldwide.

Both Hebrew and English versions elucidate the relevant details and scenarios in a clear, user-friendly manner, allowing the reader to find necessary answers to any question he or she may have. Taharah Kahalachah strikes a balance many others works in this field do not have. It is not limited to the essentials of taharas hamishpachah alone, nor does it include every possible circumstance; rather, all the laws important to be aware of have been included, while those that are uncommon have been omitted.

The second English printing, published some time ago, included many corrections to the previous translation, as well as a detailed index to assist users in finding exactly what they are looking for. The current third printing incorporates additional corrections and elucidations.

Rabbi Farkash is consulted by rabbis and laymen worldwide for his expertise in the sensitive, intricate issues related to this mitzvah. His rulings draw upon a wealth of knowledge, including the many decisions he heard personally from Rabbi Shmuel Vozner (author of Shevet Halevi) and Rabbi Meir Brandsdorfer (author of Knei Bosem), z”l.
