On Rosh Chodesh Kislev, a chassidic farbrengen was held in the small “zal” shul upstairs of Lubavitch Headquarters 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights.
The host of the modest event was Rabbi Yosef Chitrik, Dean of Beit Chana Seminary in Tzfas and one of the Rebbe’s Shluchim to Israel.
The occasion: 60 years since his bris milah.
The reason for the celebration: He was one of the few people to have the Rebbe as his Sandak.
Rabbi Chitrik is the son of Rabbi Hirsch Chitrik, a jeweler, and grandson of the late Rabbi Yehuda Chitrik, a Mashpia and at one point the oldest living Chabad Chossid.
Attending the Farbrengen, sharing stories and thoughts, were Milan Shliach Rabbi Moshe Lazar, Collel Chabad Director Rabbi Sholom Duchman, 770 Gabbai Rabbi Zev Katz, and shluchim.
the rebbe was sandek for 3 people, and the condition was that the child be names after the frierdiker rebbe. the other 2 (tenenbaum and rosenfeld) were only given half the name (yitzchok t. and yosef r.) because their fathers each had the other half (AY rosenfeld and YMM tenenbaum).
PS. looks like the “event’ was a kid’s bar mizvah that rabbi chitrik happened to have been visiting. he doesn’t seem to be be the “host” as this article implies.
The Rebbe was also Sandek for Rabbi Yosef Rosenfeld from Tzfas, if I am not mistaken
Please provide more details. What date was the bris? Why was the Rebbe sandek? Did the Rebbe do this for others too?
If not why the exception? Where was the Bris held? Did the Rebbe stay for the Seuda? Did the Rebbe say a Sicha?
