Rabbi Binyomin Saacks, a resident of Crown Heights and graphic artist, passed away on Monday, 19 Tishrei, 5778.
He was 83.
Originally from England, Rabbi Saacks was from the first members and pioneers of the Lubavitch community in London.
He was a graphic artist, specializing in Jewish educational items.
In later years he moved to Crown Heights to be near his children, where he was a regular at Shain’s Shul in Crown Heights.
He is survived by his children, Mrs. Rivka Hecht – Crown Heights, Mrs. Ruth Saacks – London, England, Mrs. Esther Hurwitz – Crown Heights, Rabbi Yakov Saacks – Dix Hills, L.I., Menachem Mendel (Menny) Saacks – Boca Raton FL, Israel Saacks – Chicago, IL, Chana Kellner – Lakewood, NJ, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The levaya will take place on Tuesday, leaving 11:00 AM from Shomrei Hadas Chapels and passing by 770 Eastern Parkway at 11:45 AM.
Mrs. Rifka Hecht will be sitting Shiva at 935 Eastern Parkway #4B on Sunday and Monday, October 15-16. Visiting hours: 10 am – 12 pm and 6 pm – 10 pm. From Tuesday morning until Thursday morning, she will join her siblings in sitting Shiva at 460 Crown St.
Mrs. Esther Hurwitz will be sitting Shiva at 460 Crown St. until Thursday morning, October 19.
Mrs. Ruth Saacks, London, England; Rabbi Yakov Saacks, Dix Hills, LI; Menachem Mendel (Menny) Saacks, Boca Raton, Fla.; Israel Saacks, Chicago; and Chana Kellner, Lakewood, N.J. will sit Shiva at home in their respective communities until Tuesday morning, when they will be sitting at 460 Crown St., Crown Heights until Thursday morning.
