You might begin reading this article asking the obviuos, “why is this production different than all other production?” but you sure won’t end reading it with the same doubt.
‘Production’ is a major highlight and high point of girls’ schools around the world. It promotes teamwork and unity and also creativity, enabling students to utilize talents they might not have known they possessed.
At the Shluchim Online School, students might seem at a disadvantage when it comes to putting together a professional performance of drama and song on stage.
Yet, the 6th grade girls managed to prove all skeptics wrong and mastered the art of virtual exhibits and interactive presentations.
Together they performed their production, the first to ever to be hosted online, titled “The Sparkling Jewel,” a script on the life of the great Torah commentator Rashi who lived in France.
Through music and drama, the girls captivated the viewers from beginning to end in their 40 minute presentation which was written by Mrs. Hindy Kalmenson.
The production was a 10 song musical, based on the story of Rashi beginning with Rashi’s father, Yitzchok, and ending on a high note with a song illustrating how Rashi’s legacy lives on.
The girls practiced via the Online School classroom. As in any production, girls performed in costume, created “scenery” and props were used whenever possible.
They thanked Rabbi Moshe Shemtov, the online School administrator, Mrs. Gitty Rosenfeld, the Online School principal, Mushkie Lipsker, the extra-curricular programs coordinator for helping them.
