Chabad of Iceland in cooperation with the Embassies of the United States, Canada, Germany, and Poland in Iceland held a Holocaust Memorial event for the 4th consecutive year.
Held at the Bio Paradis Cinema in Reykjavik on Monday, the ceremony was addressed by the President of Iceland Guðni Jóhannesson and Chabad Shliach Rabbi Avraham Feldman.
US Ambassador Carrin Patman, Canadian Ambassador Jeannette Menzies, German Ambassador Dietrich Becker and Polish Ambassador Gerard Pokruszyński all shared words as well.
The event included a screening of the moving documentary film “Cheating Hitler: Surviving the Holocaust.”
The film focuses on Helen Yermus, Maxwell Smart and Rose Lipsyzc, three Jewish Canadians who survived the Holocaust as children, as they share their stories and explore unresolved questions from their histories in conjunction with historians, genealogists and forensic experts.
