Thousands of guests, who came to New York to spend the Tishrei holidays in 770 and the Ohel, attended a Tzeischem L’shalom farewell farbrengen Sunday night at Campus Chomesh.
Organized by Vaad Hatmimim, it was the final event concluding a month full of prayers, meals, learning and inspirational experiences that guests will remember even after they return home this week.
A video of the Rebbe speaking to guests and quoting the Midrash “your departure is hard on me” was shown on a large screen.
Rabbi Yoel Kahn, the legendary “choizer” reviewer of the Rebbe’s talks, was the opening speaker, encouraging participants to continue their learning with dedication.
Additionally, bochurim were encouraged by Merkos Vice Chairman Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky to regularly use and speak in Yiddish which he called “the Rebbe’s language.”
Other speakers were Rabbi Avraham Baruch Pewsner of Paris, Rabbi Elyashiv Kaplun of Kiryat Gat, Rabbi Mendel Gurevitch of Kfar Chabad, Rabbi Michael Tieb of Argentina, and Rabbi Dovid Feldman of Lahak publications.
A raffle was held on a chassidus booklet “Anochi Magen Lecha – 5678” that was personally given by the Rebbe to Rabbi Dovid Raskin OBM, the late director of Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch – 770.
The booklet, donated to the Vaad by the family, was given to the raffle’s winner – Yanky Avraham, a bochur from Kfar Chabad.
Guests thanked the individuals that helped with their hospitality: Avraham Lokshin, Avi Boaz, Berele Aidelkopf, Mendel Sharfstein, BenNY Wolf, Schneur Minsky, Shloime Hershkop and Yossi Nabul for his hard work.
