With his nine remaining fingers wrapped in blue bandages, Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein has become a national icon, advocating for goodness and kindness in the wake of the shooting attack in the Chabad House he founded in Southern California.
From the White House in Washington, D.C. to Auschwitz in Poland, he has spoken to thousands of people, young and old, and touched countless hearts. He recently celebrated a more intimate milestone.
Dr. Yale Kadesky, a San Diego-area plastic surgeon, is one of the doctors who has been treating the rabbi, who bravely shepherded a group of children to safety and stayed to address his congregation even after he lost a finger to gunfire.
When the rabbi learned that the surgeon, the son of Holocaust survivors, had never put on tefillin, he offered to rectify the situation.
The result: an impromptu bar mitzvah in the surgeon’s office.
Mazal tov!
Beautiful! BTW is that a bulletproof vest Rabbi Goldstein is wearing? Now were talking!
We need more of these type of beautiful stories. they are inspiring, uplifting and full of positivity.
It’s amazing how a tragedy can and in this case bring out the best in Humanity from all walks of life. I am confident Mrs, Kay is being richly rewarded up in heaven while watching us from above

יישר כח! Rabbi Goldstein has a very strong resemblance to his father ‘Uncle Yossi’ and looks like he made of the same stuff too, הצלחה רבה!
Mazel Tov to the very fine doctor & Yasher Koach to Rav Goldstein, who should continue his good work!

What I like most about the picture is seeing the doctor’s enthusiastic smile. Mazel tov to Dr. Kadesky!
I look at this picture and see two of the most noble men. Rabbi Goldstein, a leader and a true example of love not only with his courage in the middle of tragedy, but as someone who rises above it and gives back to the community. Dr. Kadesky, a labor of love himself in what he does. Each day he shows kindness and love in giving back to others with his skills. May G-d richley bless them both!!
