While there is much ado about Mivztoim, public candlelighting and the like over the holiday of Chanukah, there is one man who did not forget the unique message of Chanukah, which is Chinuch – that young kinderlach should learn and live Torah.
Mr. Yoseph Yitzchok and his wife Batsheva Popack again this year showed, and increased their support and appreciation for the hard work the teachers do in Oholei Torah, and gave each one a generous gift for Chanuka.
This has become a tradition and Educational Institute Oholei Torah is proud to be the recipient of the philanthropic chessed of Yoseph Yitzchok and Batsheva Popack.
Many ongoing building projects have been sponsored by Mr. Popack to enhance the Eastern Parkway campus, and more recently Mr. and Mrs. Popack dedicated the Flatbush Kindergarten.
The staff of the Yeshiva wish to thank Mr. and Mrs. Popack for their ongoing friendship, and are happy to share the nachas of the 1,850 talmidim k”ah, who are learning in the Rebbe’s yeshiva.
I dispute that Morah’s are taking away a job from a Rebbe.
Rebbe’s should not be teaching preschool children. They need a Mommy replacement and Morah’s are just that, plus teach!
If not for the fact that the men are breadwinners, I would say that the Morah’s should get paid more not less than the Rebbes.
Number 11 wrote that every Morah is taking away a job from a Rebbe – do you dispute that?
Do you dispute that Morahs get paid less than Rebbes – they are cheap replacements?
These are undeniable FACTS!!
Every single teacher Male Or Female deserve this gift or any kind of gift they are all TEACHERS period.
I also think Mrs Devorah Rosenblum deserves a gift she is the hardest worker in Oholei Torah Period. Have a GR8 Chanukah Crown Heights
Thank you Popacks! This is great!
I’m also a Morah in 407. I never got anything but what the extremely generous parents in my class each gave.
To #11 – what an absolutely obnoxious comment!
yasher koach. to yossy and mrs. popack. we are all very proud of you. rabbi and mrs david edelman
I am a Rebbe and would never write what you did, but now that you “let the cat out of the bag” I must agree. Some (Morahs) may be “appalled”, but you wrote the truth. Not everyone can handle it. And the pre-school mommies are silent cause they know it is true.
I am a morah in oheli torah and I would like to thank the popacks for the Chanukah gelt. that was really thoughtful and appreciative.
[for your information they did give out Chanukah gelt. b”h there are a lot of staff so its understandable if it takes a day after this article was posted to get it. What I don’t understand is if you get a present why are you complaining about it you should be happy and if you don’t work at ot you should be happy for us for getting a gift and not be jealous.
i teach at oholei toarh and did not get 50 dollars from each student!
im not bashing teachers rebbes or morahs but they get plenty of chanukah gelt on average they get $50 per student x20 = $1000 (and if a parent cant afford a large chanukah gelt donation their student will suffer for the rest of the year)
The gift is a substantial amount and will is being given to all cheder teachers and also all morahs. – so please why all this loshon horah??!!
Never heard anything about this.
Zalman is the man
The Morahs who teach in OHolei Menachem are fantastic teachers. Thet work very hard from 9-3 without any half hour lunch breaks, or any break for that matter. They give a lot of themselves to everyone of the kinderlach. Maybe next time Mr. Popack can have in mind the Morahs as well when giving out chanukah gelt -as they definately deserve it.
a mother who cares.
its the first im hearing about this .what a way to give a gift .Tell the whole world and then the recipient.
Iguess the next time i give my wife a gift ill first post it online happy chanuka. a long time rebbe
well said! too bad there isn’t a Like button on collive!
What a disgusting post. You have no idea how hard the OT morahs work & how much love they put into each & every child. You are an appalling person. Where are all the pre-school mommies? Speak out!
As for these gifts – OT morahs are definitely second class citizens. Does Mrs. Popack think a female teacher is less important than a male? I suggest COLlive stops publicizing this obvious discrimination & I am surprised at Rabbi Blumes & the others for going along with it.
he is so generous we heard he gave every teacher 36 dollars what a meantch
stupid comment
did you ever heard equal pay??
if someone cant afford to give all should they not give anyone? be happy for someone else and lets hope someone else gives to the others
I never realized the underlying tension between Rebbes and Morahs. You see, Morahs fill positions that could have been another job for a Rebbe. The Morahs are cheap replacements for Rebbes. The school saves tons of money, while the Morah has a job, but the Rebbe “loses” a potential job. But is this in the children’s best interest? That is an open chinuch question. In any event, this creates a competitive employment tension between the group of Rebbes and the group of Morahs. Most do not realize it, few can articulate it, but it is there like a festering wound.… Read more »
underpaid? they get paid more then most of us in CH plus
1 they pay no taxes
2 – its a part time job they work less then 200 days out of 350 and have alot less hours (most of them have second jobs because of this and get a second income)
Nice to see another, Moshe Rubashkin, who was THERE for so many.
Again one of our own helping our own. Mr. Popack is setting a trend for others to follow. Thank Hashem there is a new generation in Crown Heights that is blessed with parnossa and all should heed his example of ‘ CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME’. May we continue in his footsteps and merit the coming of Moshiah with simcha.
go Rabbi Schapiro ,Rabbi Filler and Rabbi Osdoba amazing Rebbes thank youuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!
what was the gift?
Always nice to show our appreciation to the educators of today and who have so much influence of the future of tomorrow
I’m guessing only the rebbies were zoche to this as usual because a Morah told me she didn’t get anything!
Beautiful! An appreciated teacher runs a happy classroom!
Those teachers put up with a lot and are underpaid. They deserve some appreciation
What about the other teachers in Crown Heights.
