A handful of European Jews flew in to Germany Sunday to mark the yahrzeit of 18th century Rabbi Nathaniel Weil, author of the Talmuic commentary Korban Netanel.
His grave is located in the Jewish cemetary in the city of Karlsruhe, where he served as Chief Rabbi after heading the Prague Yeshiva.
His commentary on the Rosh (Rabbeinu Asher ben Yechiel- Ashkenazi) was published in 1755 in Germany and was later printed together with the Rosh in editions of the Gemara. although it embraces only the tractates Moed and Nashim.
His yahrzeit is on Iyar 1. Visiting his grave were Jews from London and Antwerp, members of the Karlsruhe Jewish community and the local Chabad Shliach Rabbi Mordechai Mendelson.
