We know of firemen being there in times of need; we appreciate when policemen are there when necessary; but little is known about the Mitzvah Men and all the help they provide.
Levi Wolowik, a’h, was a proud Mitzvah Man who played an integral role in Chabad’s “Rabbi and the Mitzvah Men” club, which provides young boys with an extraordinary opportunity to perform hands-on mitzvos. This past Monday, the Mitzvah Men helped prepare and pack boxes of shemurah matzah to be distributed to Jews in the Five Towns who otherwise might not have matzah for Pesach.
The Mitzvah Men meeting was especially meaningful, since it was dedicated to the memory of Levi Wolowik on the evening which marked his sheloshim, the thirty-day mourning period since his sudden tragic passing. Levi’s joy and smile always accompanied every mitzvah, setting a beautiful example for his peers who carried on his legacy through the mitzvos performed on his sheloshim and the ones that will be performed over the coming months and years.
While still in “mitzvah mode,” the Mitzvah Men also helped students of the Chabad of the Five Towns Hebrew School by sanding rolling pins for their upcoming Model Matzah Bakery this Sunday.
Rabbi and the Mitzvah Men is a program for boys in 5th and 6th grade that meets monthly for fun and interactive experiences with performing mitzvos. To find out more about this program and Chabad of the Five Towns, please call 516-295-2478.
