A beautiful story
the question mark in the handwriting is commonely interpetated as they write’ however it doesn’t make alot of sense what is purpose of writing that, all the more so it iis typical of the rebbe to express personal emotion in writing, rather the question mark means that usually the rebbe wrote the date of the picture or the a sefer was recieved etc. and here the rebbe was not sure what year the picture was taken.
Very sad, what a strong person!

The second picture #2 actually had bricks behind Reb Levik, as it was taken after his arrest in prison.
I found a company in manhattan that had a special charcoal spray technique for restoring old photos.
To guide the technician with a better understand what he needed to fixe I brought a few 8 X10 pictures of the Fredike Rebbe.
The final as you can see was an amazing over night fast job and the cost was in the thousands. ( those were the days without scanners and photo shop) .
Amazing story but sad
When was the Rebbe’s father in Chile ? The Rebbes father is buried in Kazakhstan ,Russia. I hv been to his kever several times.
