Pfizer is Kosher for Pesach.
80 health and medical organizations Israel have authorized Rabbi Yitzchok Zilberstein, prominent posek and Rabbi of the Ramat Elchanan neighborhood of Bnei Brak, to sell their chometz to a non-Jewish for Pesach.
They have been represented by Rabbi Menachem Lefkibker, Rabbi of the Clalit health organization, who reported to Rabbi Zilberstein that one of those companies is the multinational pharmaceutical corporation Pfizer.
Rabbi Lefkibker said he has been in direct contact with its Jewish CEO Dr. Albert Bourla who has requested for the “sale of chometz” contract to be translated to English for himself and Pfizer’s executive.
Bourla was born and raised in Thessaloniki, Greece. His parents, Sephardic Jews, were among the 2,000 of 50,000 local Jews to survive the Holocaust. His mother was minutes away from execution by firing squad when she was spared via a ransom paid to a Nazi Party official by her non-Jewish brother-in-law, while his father happened to be out of the Jewish ghetto when the residents were taken to the Auschwitz concentration camp and went into hiding, never to see his parents again.
Bourla has been personally petitioned by Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to provide the Pfizer–BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to which he agreed. Israel has received millions of vaccines and succeeded in inoculating the majority of its elder population, the first country to do so in the world.
After reading the selling of chometz contact, Bourla personally signed on it, Rabbi Lefkibker reported on Thursday.
